I've been over and over this myself, and don't expect an answer, but...?

I can't use my leg at all, it'll probably continue for another month or two. That means that I can't care for myself. I've been considering a nursing home, or hiring someone who's old enough to "baby-sit" me. The only real problem with the first is leaving my cat. The only real problem with a sitter is not knowing one. This is really depressing, and a little frightening. My leg, including foot is so bad, that my cat stepped on my foot leaving a clear paw pad bruise, and a clear paw indentation. I'm in constant pain. My cat was abused when I found her, I don't think she will survive if I am gone long, even with someone coming in to feed her and spend some time with her. She trusts no one, and likes them less.
I'm at my wits end, I've never noticed just how alone I really am. Please help if you can!

Ah, my dear, you don't mention your age. It would appear that you hit on it when you said "just how alone I really am". It's sad. I think we have two problems here. First, the leg. That needs to be treated. Obviously if the cat can cause it that kind of reaction by going walkies over it, we need to see what can be done about it.
If it will be for another month or two before the leg is healed, then at least there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
Perhaps you should consider talking to the doctor about the loneliness problem as well, and see what he can suggest. Doctors often have points of referral for social situations such as you are facing at the moment.
Whatever you do, Linda, you need to have some company. Some of us cope with being alone very easily, but there are also those who have a problem with it.
Call the doctor and ask if he can help you. I wish you well.
