Spinal Nerve Damage Recovery Experience?!

Question:

Spinal Nerve Damage Recovery Experience?

For the past 5 months I have been in recovery from an auto-immune form of encephalomyeltis, which damaged the nerves of my spinal cord. The clinic that finally diagnosed me (a famous one) had only seen this 5 times before. They didn't know what to expect for my recovery and I've scoured the web to find someone who has gone through what I continue to experience - nerve pain throughout my body and now hypersensitivity of the skin (most fabrics feel like sandpaper to me).

Has anyone experienced nerve regeneration symptoms? Is there hope? How long will it take? On a more practical note, what fabric is the softest? I've heard that silk is good but haven't tried it yet.

Answers:

Yes, I have. I had a disk replacement and was doing really well. Had a little slip and then got nerve damage. Now diagnosed with RSDS. Very sensitive to even a sheet touching. It took my ins 5 mo to diagnose me. I was on equiv lent to 500mg morphine a day and may epis that didn't help. It is the sympathetic nerve that a lot of pain pills or patches don't help for this. With getting down to 70lbs and was at the end of life my husband found a Dr. in TX that I have been seeing since last Nov. I'm off all Noc now and using a machine he invented. It is very painful and friends and family don't understand. But I have a brain back and am up and walking and doing a few things. Look up RSDSHOPE this may help you. You can e-mail me for more info.
