What do I do about my neck-ache?!

Question:

What do I do about my neck-ache?

From about 2003 I have carried single strap bags to school. I'm in University now and I've been carrying a VERY HEAVY single strap bag. I have some on and off MINOR neck-aches sometimes (but I've used these bags for so long it just didn't dawn on me that they could be causing them - these bags had become the norm to me they would be the last thing that I would have suspected, it was my mother who brought it to my attention when I mentioned my neck pain to her). So anyway, now I am on holidays and my neck hurts, it's so annoying it's not extreemly bad but it hurts, for the last couple of days. I'll try to stop using these bags, but what do I do to make this pain go away?

Answers:

Try to use a rolling, luggage type bag in the future. For your pain now, you may try to alternate a cool compress and a heating pad or get in to a hot tub and let the jets massage your neck. Also, take an O.T.C. med to reduce inflammation. If you are able to, treat yourself to a much needed massage. Find a reputable spa with trained professional massage therapist or seek a physical therapist. Don't allow someone not trained to do this as they may cause you more harm than good. Take care. Hope this will help:)
