Okay..I am very familiar with ear infections. Ever since I was a baby I have had severe ear infections. Most of them have been caused by allergies, sinus infections, and swimming. You name it, it has probably happened to my ear. Today my husband and I had gone to the lake and I have had some allergy issues lately, however, my ears have not hurt. Then, I went to blow my nose today and my left ear popped all of a sudden and this intense pain shot thru my ear into my head. That was about 4 hours ago, and my left ear has a horrible intense constant sharp--stabbing pain. Please help me....I have already taken some alieve and I have a heating pad that I sometimes use. What happened to my ear??? How can I get some relief!!!!!

You probably ruptured your tympanic membrane. If you have ear disease anyway, your eardrums are probably very thin. TM perforations usually heal on their own - if not, a surgical repair is required. You are really doing about all you can do. Try taking 2 ibuprofen every 3-4 hours and heat to the ear as you are doing.
