My little brother got burnt, please HELP!?

my lil brother just got burnt on a pie iron that just came off the fire. he has been screaming ever since it happened! his whole left hand got burnt on the iron plate. his thumb is the worst, and its got a huge blister. we tried giving him ice packs to put on it and burn cream, and he is still crying...i dont know what else to do. he is 4 years old. HELP!!

first of all DO NOT pop the blister or put butter on the burn doing so will cause INFECTION. clean it the best you can and as painlessly as possible, put on some aloe vera sunburn gel it will help to cool the burn, wrap the burn with STERILE cloth or gauze and keep it clean. if it still hurts him you can try fanning it this helps not so much with the burning but to calm him. also you can calmly try to explain to him that if he tries not to think about his burn it wont hurt anymore or try to distract him with a calm game or by reading to him. if this doesnt work, if the pain continues after an hour or so, or the burn starts to look infected take him to the emergency room calling 911 is pointless not all that much paramedics can do about it. but trust me it works, my four year old spilled a mug of boiling warm on her stomach and this is exactly what i did for her, and she forgot all about her pain.
