Gallbladder pain?!

Question:

Gallbladder pain?

OK I had for a couple of weeks a pain that seems to be the gallbladder. I had severe pain in my upper stomach and at times feels very "hard" like a lump. It gets bad when I eat fatty food. It has been gone for a few weeks (only once in 3 weeks) but when the doctor touched that area still hurts. I went to the doctor and he said that it could be gallstones or an ulcer. What is the difference in between them in symptoms? I had an ultrasound done and I am getting the results wednesday. I would like to know what else could it be to be prepared. I hope I can get some help! :)

Answers:

Well, if it's gall stones, you will most likely have clay-colored stools. The gall stones block the duct that allows your bile to escape into your intestine. This will cause your bile to back up into your gallbladder. The ingredients in Bile are what cause your stools to be brown so if your bile duct is blocked, you will become jaundiced (yellow skin and eyes) because the bile that usually escapes into your gut is not seeping into your blood stream and causing jaundice.
Could also be cholecystitis (inflammation of the gall bladder wall).
