I need health insurance I'm self-employed?!

Question:

I need health insurance I'm self-employed?

I want to get Health Insurance but I'm not sure where to start. I havnt been to a doctor in a few years. I'm 39 and in good health. Will they require a physical from a doctor?

Answers:

Most companies won't require a recent physical unless you have a pre-existing condition such as high blood pressure.

You can do an internet search if you have several days to compare the nearly 1000 policies that are available. If you don't have the time you'll want to visit a local independent agent. This person knows the market in your area and can work with you to find the best policy for your situation in an hour or two. They will also work with you after the sale to make sure everything goes as smooth as possible and they don't charge you any extra.

Beware of the policies that advertise "affordable health insurance for the self employed". These policies have very severe limitations, such as only paying up to $500 per day for hospitalization and having a "per occurrence" deductible instead of a yearly deductible. Also beware of the medical discount card scams.
