When should i walk on my sprained ankle?!

Question: When should i walk on my sprained ankle?
Ok so I sprained my ankle on Tuesday (4 days ago). I recieved crutchesand an ankle brace and have been using it since. I never walked on it yet and I've been following the RICE method for 3 days and now my doctor told me to use heat compress only . It doesn't hurt that much when i stand on it though... I play volleyball and i wanna get back on the court ASAP!
What should I do to speed up the heeling !?!?

Unfortunately not much, I'm afraid ... though I have no idea why the heck your doctor suggested a heat compress so soon...I understand you want to be back into volleyball as soon as possible, but I believe your ankle comes first, before volleyball, because if you don't allow it to heal properly, it'll cause you problems in the future ... Just continue to use RICE. And honestly, I don't think you're ready to go back just yet ... maybe you can sit in on practices and maybe do some drills with your team-mates, but I don't think you should be going around digging just yet. How bad is your sprain? Did your doctor classify your sprain as a 'grade'? I suggest you sit out for the 'average healing time' of the grade of your sprain, at the very least .. and then try to go back to volleyball. Hope that helps, and hope you heal quickly :)

I'm high school basketball player who's had way too many sprained ankles to count :S

use your crutches, get the heat away & just use cold packs, move the ankle without an increase in pain, & ask your doc for the rest...I truly don't know WHY on earth he's telling you to use heat only...DON'T...IF you feel the need to use heat, please make sure it's only the hot water in the shower you take....heat produces worse symptoms during an inflammation process,& if he feels your ankle is not inflamed, he seriously needs to go back to med school...
