Help how do you relieve a sore throat??

My husband has gone to the doc and they say it is not strep but it looks really bad and he says it hurts really bad he has tried gargling salt water and that only helps for a little while anybody got any suggestions???

try some honey in tea, maybe some lemon in tea. Something warm.
