Your opinions regarding Litthmann Stethoscope?!

Question:

Your opinions regarding Litthmann Stethoscope?

I have been using the same Littmann Cardiology III since medical school and I love the clarity I get on auscultation with it. But last night in the ER, a rather bad night I may add, my old Betsy went to that great medical refuse bin in the sky. Now that I’m back on the prowl for a new stethoscope, what do you recommend? I have seen some of the paramedic personnel carry electronic stethoscopes by Littmaan.

How do those work out in the field or in the office setting?
Are they able to allow you to detect murmurs?
Pros & cons welcome and as always, my appreciation with thanks.

I'm using the "LOANER" right now. You know the 1lb double rubber tubes stethoscope and hard plastic ear pieces that lacerate your earlobes.
Yep, the one, no internist would be caught dead with.

Bethany! You have two!!! Can I borrow one? LOL!

Yes, I got to test an Electronic one on Sunday night. NEATO!, but I was very self-conscious about it, afraid of breaking it or even when it ding agains the bed rails. So I'm going to take Momo's advice and get a Cardio III. Hopefuly "Old Betsy II" will last me another 4 years.

Thank you all for the consultation!

Answers:

If "old Betsy" served you so well, why don't you get another Cardiology III?

Pros: sound amplications and volume control, cool gaget
Cons: battery power, electronics can't take as much abuse, and it is expensive.
