Really nervous!! About to make my first trip to the chiropractor- what should I expect?

I think my back's out of alignment, so I made an appt. to see a chiropractor, but I've never been before. I get really nervous about doctor's appointments. What am I in for??

Your first appointment will mostly likely consist of nothing more than talking about whats been bothering you and where, an exam of your back, posture, etc., possibly xrays (not in all cases but if something indicates one is warranted you will be sent for some), a short video on your spine, it's function and how chiropractics works, etc. Nothing to worry about! If you don't find that your personalities click don't feel bad about seeking out another one. Ask around with your friends/co-workers - maybe they've been to one they really liked.....you need to be comfortable with your doctor. A chiropractor isn't a one appointment deal like going to your MD for a sinus infection - it usually takes multiple appointments and some people end up seeing their chiro a few times a year for a quick "tune up" after the initial problem settles down!
