How should a person "take charge" in an emergency situation...?!

Question:

How should a person "take charge" in an emergency situation...?

... when no one else will. How do you get others to help?

Answers:

delegate-tell people what you want them to do ( nicely but firmly) If you give them something to do, rather than wait for them to think of it themselves, they are more likely to do it.
it's a good idea to ask eg 'who's going to call 999?' and wait , if noone volunteers, delegate someone, so you KNOW that that task is being done- you don't want to find out 10 mins in that ther is no help on the way.
Most important, if at all possible is to keep calm- take a deep breath yourself. Good luck if it happens!
