Ovarian cysts - treating them by prescription meds causes me other problems, any!

Question:

Ovarian cysts - treating them by prescription meds causes me other problems, any simple cure or advice?

The last couple years, I have been having odd periods meaning 2 days this month, then maybe skip a month then maybe 5-6 days etc. This causes me to get ovarian cysts -sometimes large. My Dr. has given me birth control (lowest dose) and single hormones which always takes them away within a month but the pills cause other problems. Like occasional on/off numbness/tingling in my lower left leg (Vein dr says my veins look great when I was tested while not on the pill), or a mouth FULL of canker sores on the latest one..Yaz. Is there any natural magic cure or something I can do or take to help me be regular so I wont get these? And why do I even get them? I never used to. What did I do wrong? Thanks very much.

Answers:

First of all I promise that you did nothing wrong. Everyone, EVERYONE gets ovarian cysts. (Mine get really bad too, some even as large as a football, and then they have to do surgery.) Most cysts burst whenever you get your period, and they arent a big deal. Some do not, and you have to take medicine to control them. Which means in a nutshell regulating your periods, so that the cysts stay small and burst each month like they are supposed to.

If the pill is making you have funky side effects, that are bothersome, call your doctor. Tell him the side effects, and ask him to try something else. There are TONS of different kinds of birth control pills out there. One of them will work for you, I promise, you just have to find the right one. I dont know of any natural remedies to this problem, and you shouldnt take anything, even regular vitamins while on hormones without clearing it with your doctor first. (Found that out the hard way, got sick as a dog, and wound up in the ER). Its a game of trial and error, and finding out what works best for your body. If your doctor complains at all about trying a new medicine, then find a new one. Mine gave me free samples until we found one that worked for me. Then she wrote the perscription.

Good Luck! Cysts arent fun, but when you find the right pill, they will be much more manageable, I promise.
