I would like to know if you have fibromyalgia and how it was caused? I want to h!

Question:

I would like to know if you have fibromyalgia and how it was caused? I want to hear your story!?

If you have fibromyalgia, was it caused by a car accident or something else and if caused by a car accident did you get a settlement from your insurance company? I want to hear your story, please.

I was in a car accident 4 1/2 years ago and ever since I have been diagnosed with FMS. I have a lawyer now and we are going to sue the insurance company! I want to hear your story, even if it wasn't from a car accident. This is a horrible disease and I feel for everyone that has to cope with it. I also feel for the family members around me, because there is not much that can be done for the pain.

And I would like to know how you deal with the fact that it is a disease that you cannot find on an xray, so many people think it is all 'in your head'. How do you deal?

Answers:

Fibromyalgia is a disease of the soft tissue and connective tissue which causes widespread pain and fatigue as well as a multitude of other symptoms.

I have fibromyalgia and have had it for close to 20 years. It is not possible to determine exactly what "caused" it. There is a definite school of though that it comes from some sort of physical trauma to your body. That being said, my issues started after a slip and fall accident that never resolved itself in the proper way. As I am sure you already know, fibro is a very painful disease, it also takes every drop of energy you have from you. I spent many years going to doctors trying to figure out what was wrong with me...finally found one who was willing to take the time to weigh ALL of my symptoms. She sent me online to research it and get my ideas about it as well. I now function on a daily basis. I have 5 children, 4 left at home who require a lot of work. I am blessed with a great pain management doctor who is not afraid to offer me any relief that he can come up with. I am currently on Duragesic pain patches and Vicodin for breakthrough pain. There are many other issues to Fibro besides the pain, as you will find through life with it. The best thing you can do is to research it well and learn what to expect. Different things work for different people, so take the time to find a doctor who is willing to work with you to resolve each issue as it arrises. For me personally, I have the pain, the fatigue, insomnia, IBS, memory issues, and many more that come and go. Please take the time to make sure that you understand this illness before it gets much worse...you will sure be glad you did later!
