My brother has taken Lortab 10 everyday for 8 weeks due to surgery will he have withdrawals when quitting now?

He ran out and DR says no refills. What should he expect? No health insurance......no rehab around.......no $$$$ to pay anyone. Must do it alone.

Answers:

It depends on several things: How many times a day was he taking Lotab 10? Also, was he taking it only when e had pain or was he taking it for "fun"? It seems unusual for someoen who had surgery to need to take pain meds for 8 weeks. Most pain will be gone after 2 or 3 weeks maximum. If he continued to take it, either he had unusual pain or more likely he was taking it recreationally. He may experience withdrawals if he was taking a high dose for that long. But opioid withdrawal is rarely life threatening. He will feel terrible while going through it, but he won't die.
