Lower Back pain started day after lifting, bike ride, IF it is a herniated disc,!

Question:

Lower Back pain started day after lifting, bike ride, IF it is a herniated disc, wouldnt it be felt instantly?

Thursday: bought and lifted bike into truck,
no pain felt, went on bike ride same day all okay then , next morning pain was felt in lower back. Been ice/heat with not much success after a week. Hurts worse when i sit, and is better walking. Have slight tingling off and on in inner side of knee just above calf, but no "Shooting pains" down leg or butt. Does this sound like disc or muscle and is a week still to early to be worried?

Answers:

Well, you can certainly overdo it. If you just bought the bike, then maybe your workout was a bit much for the first day. My shoulder is still sore 2 weeks later, after trying to pull-start an outboard motor that just wouldn't. It wouldn't start and I wouldn't quit. Boy, was my arm and shoulder joint ever sore the next day. I still feel it in my shoulder. However, it's muscle and cartilage that I damaged, not bone. I think a herniated disk would hurt right away, but a chiropractor and an x-ray could tell you for sure.
