Question:

I have had a migrane since yesterday, i take imatrex and its not touching it, any ideas?

Answers:

I have very bad migraines as well that are marked with numbness, throbbing/spliting headaches, dizzyness, and extreme nausea. I also have Imitrex and found it to be a very good drug you just need to let it take its course. I take one Imitrex and 2 Excedrin Migraine.

One reason why Imitrex may not be touching yours is because you are not taking it at the correct phase of the migraine. I have done a considerable amount of research on this topic and this drug. It is a purely preventative drug not a suppressive one. That is to say that you should be taking it within the first signs or "triggers" of your Migraine. You should know what your triggers are because they are simply precursors to your migraine. My trigger and "alert symptom" is the numbness of my fingers and slight dizzyness. You may have similar triggers are very different ones. Imitrex should be taken within the first 15 minutes of getting that trigger to try and prevent the migraine.

If this doesnt work it is best to take the medicine and get in a dark room and place a cold damp cloth over your forehead and temples. Also get plenty of rest. Sorry to hear of your migraine and i hope this helps

Note: AS ALWAYS seek the advice of your physician before starting any drug, especially imitrex. While the mixing of the drugs may work for some it definitely will not work for all and could even have horrible side effects...
