Question: I think i might have torn a muscle! or pulled something im not sure. (more in detail box)?
So im almost 14 and i play volleyball and basketball. right now im on the basketball team at my school but i have a problem. after basketball practices (2 hours of basketball after school everyday) my hip on my right side would hurt. so whenever i would go up the stairs, i would either have to step with the opposite foot or go slower because my muscle in my hip would hurt too bad. then the same thing happened to my left side. i guess i wasnt fully healed but i felt fine after and could walk fine. but then i had a quick little race with my two friends after church band practice. i was in jeans and flipflops so i took my shoes off and sprinted barefoot on the cement. in the middle of the race, something in both of my hips either popped or something and started hurting realllyy bad. i couldnt walk after that and i had to get carried to the car. wen i got home i was practically balling my eyes out because i could not move and i had to be carried in the house and up the stairs. i wasnt taken to the hospital because normally my family doesnt bring me since everything heals itself. i can walk now, (a little weird tho) and go up the stairs. but wen i go up the stairs, i have to hold onto the railing and step up only with my right leg since thats the leg that healed the most so far and doesnt hurt as much. wenever i try going up with the other leg, it hurts to bad and i almost collapse on the ground. it also hurts wen i cough and most wen i sneeze. my sister thinks i mightv torn a muscle. i started stretching out my legs to help them. i hurt myself friday night and it has healed pretty fast till today.

but i have my last basketball game tomorrow and i really want to play. i cant miss another game because i already missed 2 since i had the flu. does anyone know wut might have happened to my legs? is there anything i can to do try or take to make it heal faster and enough to be able to play at the game tomorrow? pleeaseee help!!

Answers:

you could of just bruised the bone and the blood could of pooled in your hips causing pain, or you could have gotten hip bursitis

i got that during wrestling when i was lat dropped straight onto my hips ( still won tho) i was in extreme pain and went to the doctor and i went thru what u described i was supposed to be on crutches but i left them at my house and fought thru the pain and wrestled to win a tournament 2 days after. i couldn't even walk up the stairs without taking my time but i fought thru the pain so if your mentally tough enough you could probably play your basketball game
