What is the cause of a cramp/hardness in the neck???
I had noticed that when I would yawn, immediately I would feel a small pain on the back left side of my neck. It occurred to me to touch my neck the next time I yawned when I did, I found that it was a hardness almost like a small cramp in my neck that caused this pain. This only occurs for about 5-10 seconds after a yawn. Does anyone know what could be the problem or what I can do to resolve this?

This is usually a sign of the onset of TMJ. A syndrome that effects the Jaw muscles and connective tissue. Many, many people live with this on a daily basis. If it gets bad, either go to a soft tissue chiropractor or your dentist with your concerns.
If it stays the same just ask your dentist on your next visit.
