When do medications become too old to take???!

Question:

When do medications become too old to take???

Two years ago a doctor gave me a sample pack of the sleeping pill Ambien to try. Then I got pregnant, and breast fed my daughter for a while and didn't take them. I still have some of the pills, but they are now 2 years old. I have had such trouble sleeping and would love to get a good night's rest. Are these pills to old to take?? Could they be harmful, or just ineffective?? Thanks!!

Thanks for the quick responses. I will throw them away, and perhaps try some warm milk!!

Answers:

You shouldnt take those pills. Just go to the doctor to get new ones. Since you had a daughter your weight has changed and you most likely need a different dosage. The dosage you have now can be very harmful to you or it might just be inaffective and cause you to take more than the amount you usually take and can cause an overdose. Just as a precaution i suggest go to the doctor and get new ones.
