What does a bruised rib feel like?!

What does a bruised rib feel like?

I am very sore on my left side, it hurts to touch it and to lay on it. I was kicked in the side this past weekend. Is it just bruised or could it be cracked? It doesn't hurt to breath.

For me, bruised ribs were horrid. It hurt to breathe, to sit, to stand, to get up, to bend over, to live period. I had to have help to do most everything. It took about 6 weeks for me to heal up.

I'm sure it's different for everyone. I did ask my doctor and he said that nothing much to do for cracked ribs but time, same as for bruised ones.
