I was told bananas have worms till they are radiated. Is this true and is the ra!

Question:

I was told bananas have worms till they are radiated. Is this true and is the radiate process harmful?

Answers:

I've never heard of bananas having worms, like apples. Maybe worms don't like bananas.....really.

But the worry about radiation is that it will harm the nutrients (good vitamins and stuff) inside. Some who approve it, say it doesn't do any damage. Others say it kills the vitamins and changes the stuff.

Irradiation of foods does kill germs and bacteria, so that the shelf life is much, much longer. They've irradiated milk so that the small cartons can last even several months.

Some think that any change of natural foods is harmful. But those promoting radiation say that any changes are not bad at all. Some people say that microwaving foods kills the vitamins, too, thereby making the food almost useless. But any form of cooking will change the raw foods so that they lose nutrition.

I don't know, haven't made up my mind. I'm sure you won't turn into a tiny Godzilla from eating radiated foods.

But have you considered how much your body is bombarded by all the radio waves around us? We carry cell phones, we have satellite tv broadcast all over the nation. We have GPS beaming down from outer space. There's electrical appliances all in our homes which make magnetic fields, which some people say are also harmful to a person.

I woudn't sweat the irradiated foods, if you have just a little every so often.
