Natural remedies for a water burn?!

Question:

Natural remedies for a water burn?

I recently burned myself with boiling water in the belly area (dumb accident). Is not a big burn, but I would like something to relieve the pain and make the blisters dry quicker (annoying when you have to wear jeans).

Answers:

Aloe vera gel and the gel from a generic vitamin E capsule help the most with pain and healing. There is nothing that will help dry the blisters faster- the body needs to reabsorb the liquid itself and you really need the blister cover to protect the new skin underneath. Mess with those blisters and you ask for both an infection and a nasty scar. Get a tube of Mederma to put on it as soon as you have dry skin, to help avoid a nasty scar. Otherwise, you are stuck. Use a double thick bandage to cover the area while you are dressed, and wear pants with lower waistbands in the meantime. As far as pain meds, you are limited to aspirin and Motrin(ibuprophen) as your best choices, although the first aid sprays containing lidocaine- like Bactrin, will help for a little while if it really gets bad.
