How to deal with stress?!

Question: How to deal with stress?
Im starting to get really stressed and the last time I was, I got really depressed. Which Im scared of being again. I need some help to deal with stress. I have a bunch of coursework deadlines coming up (and ive hardly started it) and in May I have exams pretty much in every week. I just know I'm not going to cope. Also do you know any ways to get yourself motivated to revise and do coursework??

Answers:

I am a very stressed out guy, regardless of if something is coming or not. So here are some tricks I use and that work for me, they may not all work for you.

First one, which is one of my favorites: is to take a shower; Now I'm talking of a very hot shower on the limit of bearable, you simply sit down and let the water fall on you and empty your mind just enjoy the sensation.

Second: Drinkign tea; May sound a bit lame but if you find a tea you like drinking a cup of it will relax you, firstly because drinking tea requires you to remain calm not to spill it or burn yourself with it, secondly because the taste and aroma themselvs are relaxing (in the most cases)

third: Meditation; now maybe you know how to meditate maybe not, a simple way to meditate to relax is to simply get in a comfortable position and breath slowly in and out, focussing only on your breathing. Begin by making cycles of 3 seconds, breath in for 3 seconds, pause 3 secs, breath out 3 secs pause 3 secs and repeat. Once it becomes easy add one second and so on, the more seconds the more relaxed you are.

An alternative is "candle gazing" sit down in a dark room and ligh a candle, then just stare into the flame and relaxe, breath in the same rythm as the flame. Eventualy you will be so relaxed that when you get up it'll be as if you had obtained inner peace. Very effective

fourth: now this is a weird one, Sigh; let out a sigh but not a frustrated or stressed out sigh. Try to sigh out all of your worries and the burden that are on your shoulders and heart. Visualise them leaving you if you want.

Fifth: snacking; now don't do that one too often or you may gain weight. Eating forces you to be calm otherwise you can choke. if you eat quickly then eat something you can't eat quick or learn to eat slowly

There are many more and all are temporary. If you want me to help you further feel free to add me on yahoo msg zavv_lon@yahoo.com I'll be happy to help you and guide you through them.

Some may sound lame but if you do them they do indeed work, I performed all of them and they all had an effect on me. Good luck with your exams
