What's wrong with my thumb!!!!??? Please help I'm 12 years old and rea!

Question: What's wrong with my thumb!!!!??? Please help I'm 12 years old and really scared!!!!!!!!!!!?
Ok I broke my sesamoid bone in my thumb almost 8 weeks ago. I had a cast for three weeks. I got my cast off on February 28th and had x-rays done. They said it was still broken. They didn't put me in another cast or anything. On March 8th I had x-rays again and it was still broken! As of today it still hurts like hell. Here are my symptoms.
*Swelling (whole hand)
*Bruising (just a little)
* Throbing (all the time!)
*Tingling
*Coldness
*Unable to move thumb and index finger without pain
*Smelly (my thumb smells really badly!)
*Lots of pain! (can't sleep)
*Clicking when try to move index finger (with lots of pain!)

I go back to the doctor on April 4th. My mom won't take me any earlier! I've been icing it and stuff like that but nothing helps. I've taken painkillers but that doesnt help either! I can't get to the ER by myself because I'm 12 years old. All of my relatives live in different states. Also my school nurse already knows thar I broke my thumb. She was the one who called my mom and forced her to take me to the doctor.

What do you think is wrong?

What will the doctors do for it?

What should I do at home?

Will I need surgery?

Please no stupid, short, dumb answers.

Thanks for the answers!

Well, its pretty obvious that its broken. But it also sounds like its getting pretty serious. I don't want to scare you, but I'm gonna be honest. The tingling and coldness could indicate some sort of problem with your nerves or blood circulation, which could lead to permanent damage if not properly dealt with by a doctor. And if you thumb smells bad, then its probably become infected, which also demands immediate medical attention.

Honestly, kid, I think you need to see a doctor as soon as you can. And like I said, I hate to scare you, but if its as bad as you say it is, then you will probably need some serious medical treatment, like antibiotics for the infection and possible corrective surgery for the bone, nerve, and circulatory damage. You need to tell your mom how bad its gotten and get a doctor to look at it ASAP.

First Aid & CPR course, and lots of medical tv shows.

Im sorry! I wish i could tell you but i cant. The only thing i can tell you is to go to the doctor and if its hurting you that bad, your mom should be taking you incase theres something really wrong with it. I hope your mom will take you earlier!

Your mother obviously doesn't realize how serious an injury you have. It can't hurt that much, but I recommend that you go to the nurse again and tell her what's going on.

Medical background

you are not supposed to be able to ask questions until you are 13 or older....

I suggest you go to a better hospital to check and treat.

Hey,

So your thumb is probably still broken. Fingers can take a while to heal because we try and use them so much. That's most likely causing the majority of your pain.

I would suggest that you go to your school nurse tomorrow. Ask if she can put a splint on your thumb so that you can't keep re-hurting it my moving it accidentally. If you want to go to the doctors again, but your mom won't take you, then tell your school nurse about that too. They're great resources and can help with a lot, even if you just need a sympathetic ear.

The doctors will probably need to x ray again. They might need to reset the bone, but I doubt you'll need surgery.

Ice it and get some sleep.

It sounds like you have some sort of arthritis.
My sister had the same exact symptoms 5 years ago (except for the cold...I don't know about that one)

And as for the smelly part, it'll go away within a month...I know this because she wanted me to smell it just to make me mad lol
Don't use ice...it'll only make the pain worse. Try soaking it in warm, sort of hot water sometimes and wrap it tightly in a long bandage....

The doctors might prescribe you some pain pills (I don't get it either...I guess its for just incase if your hand starts to feel weird at a random time you won't have to suffer through it 100%)

You don't need surgery! ^_^
It'll stop bothering you one day. I know some people's bodies heal slower than others, but you shouldn't worry unless it's a year AFTER the cast is off and your thumb still hurts in the middle of summer.
You should start to buy some gloves for the winter... ;~;

Real life.
My sister had the same problem, I really hope you make it through this without anymore discomfort!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
