What is the best leg exercise if you have a torn lateral meniscus and patially t!

Question:

What is the best leg exercise if you have a torn lateral meniscus and patially torn ACL?

Answers:

If you have the aboved mentioned injuries you will need to help reduce swelling within the joint and work on increasing you ability to bend and straighten you knee. After taking a shower, I would work on bending and straightening you knee.
To work on straightening your knee:
1. Quad sets-with you knee straight place a small rolled up towel behind your knee. Tighten your quad and push your knee straight into the towel hold for 5-7 seconds repeat 15-20 times 3 times per day

2. While watching TV place a rolled up blanket under your heel and let gravity work on straightening your knee.

Work on bending:
Towel slides: grab a towel and grab one end in each hand, place the middle of the towel under your heel and work on bending your knee as far as is comfortable do this 10-15 times 2-3 times a day and hold for 5 seconds.

Heel slides: on a slick surface with socks on work on slidding your heel towards you and back. complete 15 times 3 times per day.

Ice your knee for 20 mintues after completing the above exercises.

I do recommend as the others have pointed out that you need to see a Doctor. The exercises I have told you about are the ones that an Orthopedic surgeon would have you do prior to surgery. Prior to surgery they want you to have full knee range of motion and most if not all of the swelling out of the knee.

I hope this helps.
