Can a hospital force a patient to be discharged if the patient believes he/she i!

Question:

Can a hospital force a patient to be discharged if the patient believes he/she is not fully recuperated?

I have a relative that has been in the hospital for a couple of months and is still recuperating. She is in the hospital undergoing intensive physical therapy to regain mobility and functioning in her limbs, but the hospital asserts that she can continue to recuperate at home or at another facility. However, she has no insurance, so another facility will not take her and there is no family caregiver that can stay home with her to oversee her daily needs, as everyone works. So my question is, if I refuse the discharge plan, can they force her out or are they obligated to keep on treating her?

Answers:

Sounds like you need to talk to a social worker to find out what kind of benefits she can apply for I.E.-temporary disability or something to hopefully cover her expenses and hopefully find a way to help comtinue her P.T.
and you can call the onbudsman if shes unable to care for herself they can;t just throw her out without plans for her care in some way .
Other wise you didnt say her age but throwing and adult out that is over 60 that cannot care for themself would be elder abuse so get right on it ok....
