Had problems with Medicaid while you are disabled & need surgeons?Tell me about it!?

Problems with our Medicaid &Medicare systems?What do you think?How do older and disabled get to drs when they are 2 or 3 counties away?Horror stories, anyone?Are we citizens allowing politicians to have great health care while our needy go without?

If the dr isn't on the Medicaid plan then they cannot take it. I asked about him taking it since he had done surgery on my knee before, when I had ins., and they just aren't on the plan.To see him once would be $250 cash and on a $623. mo budget it just won't happen!

Doctors cannot be forced to take Medicaid or Medicare, just like they can't be forced to take any particular private insurance. We are not a socialist society. If there aren't any local doctors that will take your coverage you will have to ask them to accept it. You don't ask them if they do take it, you explain your situation and ask if they WILL take it. That can be hard if you live in a rural area because there may not be any doctors that are familiar with the surgery that you need.
