Is it normal to often sleep 12 straight hours?!

Question: Is it normal to often sleep 12 straight hours?
I often wake up to find that exactly 12 hours have gone by since I fell asleep the last night. I usually get woken up by my alarm, so I do wake up at a normal hour, but when left to my own sleep schedule, it's the 12/12 routine. During weekends, I usually fall asleep at 1 am, and then wake up at 1pm the next day. It's kind of a bummer that half my weekend day is lost to sleep. I'm a 17 year old girl, so it's probably because I'm still growing, right? Or is it a cause for concern? Can I stop it? Is this normal?
Thanks for your help. ^^

Answers:

Its completely normal that you would sleep 12 hours on the weekends. The number of hours you sleep on your own is how much sleep you need for your body to function properly. Your fine :) Your body is just catching up on sleep that you didn't get during the school week.
