I have a sharp pain going threw my right arm and shoulder and pain med. won't he!
Question:
I have a sharp pain going threw my right arm and shoulder and pain med. won't help it. Help!?
I was on a boat when I started getting a really bad pain in the top of my spine. It went threw my neck, threw my right shoulder, and then threw my arm. I couldn't move any of my right side. Its been 5 days and I'm still getting the sharp pain. It feels like there is no blood going to my arm. I have taken Iboprofen nd it didn't work. Then I took some stronger pain med. and it didn't work. It hurts so bad and I don't know what to do.

The same thing happened to me. It turned out to be a herniated disc in my neck. The pain you're describing perfectly follows a nerve in your neck that descends to your arm. With that kind of injury the three symptoms I had were numbness, pain, and an inability to properly move my arm/fingers. For me, no over the counter medicine would touch it so I went to my physician. He prescribed a stronger pain killer (Lorcet) and did an x-ray of my neck. Sometimes these things just magically resolve like mine did. After about 3 weeks I was fine, but sometimes you have to have surgery to correct it if the vertebrae is actually damaged. Just let your doctor examine you to see how serious it is.
