Finger crushed and ripped open prescribed tylenol 3?!

Question: Finger crushed and ripped open prescribed tylenol 3?
I crushed my finger at work and then ripped my hand out from under the motor. It tore a good chunk back on my finger took 9 stitches. I was prescribed tylenol 3 w. Codeine. I am in alot of pain even after 3 tylenols
I took one them one more 1.5 hours. Later then another an hour after that.
I still am in terrible pain.
Did they prescribe me the tylenol vs Vicodin because I said I was gonna go back to work

How do I get something stronger with out sounding like. An addict.

Answers:

Hi.I feel bad for you,and I'm sure your in really bad pain. You just call the doctor who prescribed you the tylenol #3,and explain to him/her that it's not offering you any pain relief, actually tylenol #3 isn't a very strong pain reliever at all,and is usually prescribed as a first alternative pain reliever for many patients.
You simply conact your doctor explain the situation, and ask for a stronger pain medication, and tell the doctor that you have to go back to work, and you simply can not work in such pain.Period!
Why would you think your doctor would look/think your a drug seeker? Your in pain! And,you need a stronger pain medication! Like I said...tylenol #3 is most often the first alternative when prescribed as a pain medication by many doctors,so I don't think it has anything to do with you going back to work.
And,a drug addict...(disaggree with the first answerer) can,and does become addicted to their pain medication even when they need their pain medications...due to serious pain, illness, disease, injury.A drug addict unfortunately falls into their addiction when using an opiate pain medication(s) over a long period of time, and they need pain medication(s) like I said..due to illness, disease, injury, etc.
So..call and ask for a stronger pain medication. No problem.Hope you start feeling better soon. All the best.

Simply call your doctor and tell him the tylenol 3 isn't working for you that you're still in pain. They can either prescribe you a higher dosage to take or something else instead. An addict is seen as an individual who is constantly on pain medication without a cause.
