Question:

Weakness in arms?

I have weakness in both of my arms, mostly the left,I did alot of pushing and pulling on saturday but the weakness didnt really show up until monday,I dont really remember hurting myself on saturday but is it a possibility that i did and didnt notice it until two days later?has anyone else experienced this?I was also on antibiotics for an infection a week prior to saturday,I heard that a viral infection can cause weakness in limbs,is this true?

Answers:

Well it is possible to get something called Guillain-Barre syndrome a couple weeks after a viral (or bacterial) infection that involves an autoimmune attack on your nerves after the infection. However this usually starts in your thighs or legs and arms are affected later (though numbness/tingling in the hands may come earlier). It can progress to more serious problems like respiratory failure and heart arrhythmias if left untreated. It's pretty rare, but if you feel like you are getting weaker or begin having any other new neurologic symptoms you should probably be evaluated right away.

That being said, more likely you are still just experiencing some muscle strain a couple days after working a little too hard and haven't quite recovered.
