Hi...Let me try to give you some insight here...It's really difficult to find the perfect emergency room, and if your really in severe pain, suffering in any way medically speaking of course, then that does by any means require immediate medical attention. And,of course you must call 911,and ask for an ambulance, and you will be taken directly to the nearest emergency room...or,you can ask to be taken to the emergency room that you prefer(if it's fairly close by).A good example would be if you happen to find a good emergency room that's far across town, and you happen to need immediate medical attention(an ambulance/911).I would think that the paramedics would take you to the nearest hospital/emergency room that is within city limits, and not the emergency room that's located far across town(the emergency room that you prefer). You'd be taken to the emergency room within the city limits..only makes sense, and is easier on the paramedics seeing how the also have many other emergency calls to attend to.
I suggest you find a good hospital, and all hospitals have an emergency room! So,that being said....find a good hospital that you like and would rather stay with for all/most of your medical needs/wants.And,that way when/if you would ever need immediate medical attention you will be directly taken to that hospital of your choice(the one you chose). That way it would be much easier for everyone involved.
I hope this helps, and I hope that you enjoy your stay/visit here in the US...Welcome!
Take care.

Oh,you have to excuse the 'new' members that come to this community. Some of them do not know how to treat other members with even a decent amount of respect. Not really their fault...it's the way they were raised I assume, and they really don't know any better. It also makes them feel better about themselves to insult other members who are only asking for a little advice/opinions.It's partially due to their own lack of self esteem to treat other with such little respect,insults....kinda boosts their own self esteem...if that even makes any kind of sense.

First of all, if you need to have any emergency treatment, it is best to call an ambulance. The reason for that is that you may spend hours waiting in the ER before anyone will really assist you! If you call 911 and ask for an ambulance, they will be there in minutes, and you will receive medical attention right away, and then when they take you to the hospital, the people at the hospital will take over immediately, instead of leaving you for hours in a waiting room.
Sometimes the 911 responders are your local emergency techs from the local fire dept. They do a great job.
P.S. If you do not have medical insurance, and you use an ambulance service, you will get a big bill, but if it is a life and death situation, like it might be a heart attack, it is best for you to call 911; both for yourself, and so you do not cause an injury to someone else while trying to get to the hospital (if you are the driver).
Again, if life or death, you don't have time to wait at the first desk in the hospital.

What a dick!

you should only be going there if it's an EMERGENCY, hence the name ER Emergency Room!

why not google local hospital as they all will have an ER!

I mean come on, are you really that dumb! there was even a long running tv show about it

EDIT
Surely you might have to go to an ER not a ER, it really doesn't make sense that way!
