Numb right hand.?!

Question:

Numb right hand.?

The past 3 weeks I would wake up with my right arm numb. The feeling when you sleep on your arm then you wake up and the blood feels like it's rushing back to your fingertips. The last time was like three nights ago. The past 5 years I've had a swollen lymph node on the right side of my neck on and off, the doctor said I was fine since it never caused me pain.. Five nights ago I was watching TV and I had a sharp shooting pain in my neck and my lymph node was swollen. Two weeks ago I woke up and strectched my right leg then it got "stuck" and cramped up. It felt like pins and needles. It was a very excruciating pain. Today my arm is very numb and it runs from my elbow to my fingertips. My hand has never hurt this bad. I can't make my hand into a fist. I looked up all these things and couldnt find anything. I have a doctor's app. tomorrow. Anyone have any ideas what it could be. My arm, leg, and lymph node don't ever hurt at the same time. I typed all of this with my left hand. Ugh.

Answers:

it sounds like you've got some nerve damage or problems with the nerves on your right side.

several things can cause nerve damage

-dvt (deep vein thrombosis). this is when plaque builds up within the veins in your legs and arms (rare in arms), causing a clot to forn, restricting or blocking blood flow causing pain, numbness, and tingling. treatment for this involves taking blood thinners to help break up and dissolve the plaque.

-carpal tunnel syndrome. this causes pain, numbess, and tingling in your hands, fingers, and forearm. this is caused by the median nerve (the nerve that runs from your hand to forearm) gets pinched or squeezed at the wrist. a simple surgery is done to correct this.

-pressure on the spinal cord from a herniated disk

-vitamin b-12 deficiency.

it's hard to tell you exactly what is causing the trouble w/out seeing you in person and running tests. your dr should be able to pinpoint the problem and offer up a solution

good luck to you!!
