Swelling even after 3 months since injection line was used on hand?!

Question:

Swelling even after 3 months since injection line was used on hand?

My mother aged 66 yrs, had a hospitalization due to fractures/injuries 3 months back. The injection line was put through the right hand(on the back side of the palm of hand), where to find the vein they poked her at least 20 times. Later when it started swelling they used the line thru the neck.
They said the swelling in hand would go away after sometime, but it has still not gone away. My mother is saying that she fells little lesser sensation in the affected region. Is it normal for such swellings to stay this long? Will it ever go away at all? Someting I can apply on it? Anything else I need to know or have to do?

Answers:
