Question:

From a nurse's perspective. Dr. has bad reputation. Would you tell the patient if they asked? why or why not?

The doctor has a bad reputation because of high infection rates post-operatively. Should a nurse tell her patient if they ask, "Did I have a good surgeon?" Should she uphold fidelity to the patient or the doctor? EXPLAIN.

Answers:

to the patient. remember, they're the one most at risk here. doctors can move on to other clinics and start anew somewhere as long as they don't lose their liscense. the patient is going to be the one suffering through infection if you don't warn them. i wouldn't necessarily say it outright but if asked be honest! your duty as a nurse is to help keep people healthy and obviously you would know more about which doctors are better than others.
