Can I tape up my own shin splints?

I've got shin splints in my left shin on the inside...But I have a basketball game tonight. Can I tape it up so it doesn't hurt? Please explain how! Thanks

yea i had shin splints in the beginning of football season and i went to Rite Aid and bought these black shin supports its really easy they go on your legs and you just tighten them and they wont come off while you run around.
