Question:

What do you think is wrong with me? I have a docs appointment on friday ut cant wait that long?

For a week now I am waking up in the middle of night with headache and pains on the back of my head. When I finally get up I have a headache but it slowly goes. When in work suffer from neck pain and pain on the back of my head. It feels like i have been strangled. I feel sick all day. I have had a monior moved in work and occ health have said its fine. As soon as I get home after working 8 hours I have to go straight to bed as the neck pain, headache and sick feeling is awful.
I feel better after a power nap however the feeing doesnt last long.
I drink 2 ltr of water every day and each a balanced diet.

Why do I feel as if I have been strangled and head aches

Answers:

This probably should not wait and you should get a doctors assesment or if he cant tell right away a CT scan pretty fast.

things that are serious are
1) meningitis usually from viruses or bacteria or rarely drugs. (you could have a viral meningitis, and mono can cause one kind of viral meningitis)

2) pressure inside your head. this is worse in the morning before you get up. infections or tumors cause this. usually you have other problems beside the head ache.

2B) very high blood pressure (make sure right away this is not a problem, especially if you already have high blood pressure by history or are taking medications like cocaine or NSAIDS, or stimulants and decongestants that will raise a blood pressure)

3) fractured neck vertebrae
4) bleed from subarachnoid blood vessel (doubt this)
5) obstructed blood flow from you head by a cancer in your chest. You would usualy see distended vessels on your chest or a dusky purple color on your face

What else could it be;
1) first time migraines are not like this
2) stress head aches again are not usually this severe
3) a blood vessel inflamation (temporal arteritis) if you are more thatn 60 and your temples hurt.
4) soft tissue and jaw joint problems, but why suddenly now

if you have any of these see the doctor sooner because the chances of something serious are higher;

.you are older, more than 60,
.have a history of cancer or think there may be a cancer
.have a bleeding problem, or take drugs that cause bleeding like aspirin or vitamin e or ginkgo
.have fever of chills or signs of a viral illness or bacterial illnness, or have a skin infection on your sclap
.have recently hit your head
.have problems with your vision or weakness somewhere like a stroke
.if the headache came on suddenly
. have underlying serious illness especially if you are imunocompromised.
.have tenderness on your temples or your chewing muscles are starting to cramp up

the point here is that it is difficult to sort this out without a lot of details about you. As a guess if you are young and generally healthy a viral meningitis sounds like this because of the severity of you head aches.

addition
very high blood pressure can also do this, this can be very dangerous
