Can I still go to the doctor after 2 months?!

Question:

Can I still go to the doctor after 2 months?

I had a car wreck 2 months ago. The air bag deployed and popped me in chest pretty hard. I was in mild pain, so I didn't go to the doctor on the scene.
Now 2 months later, I have trouble breathing, and some anxiety about driving. I also started having headaches.
The other driver was at fault. So what I need to know is, I haven't signed off on any medical claim, So can I still go to the doctor, and his insurance company still have to pay for it after 2 months? Since the problems are just now showing up?

Answers:

Yes, I believe you can. I had a car wreck almost two years ago now, and their insurance is still paying for my doctor bills. That was one of the things that the doctor first told me was that sometimes when you are in an accident, your symptoms dont show up until later. A guy rear ended me and made me flip my truck, and it was a few weeks later before my "real" back pain set in. I did go to the ER the night of the wreck, but it was my shoulder that hurt so bad that night. But, if you haven't signed any release forms from the insurance company they should still be liable. I think that they are for up to four years. The best thing that you could do is hire an attorney. I am from Texas and there are lots of car accident attornies here. They generally dont want any money up front, and will take a third of your settlement when it is over. That is good, so you want be out any money from your pocket, and the lawyer will work hard to get you a good settlement because the more he gets you, the more his third is. Also, another good thing about using a lawyer is that all your medical bills get paid. They usually hold these out at the end of the settlement as well. My lawyer did give me the option to pay the bills on my own, but I just told him to hold it out of my settlement because I knew I wouldn't be able to pay them on my own later. In my case, the lawyer scheduled all my doctors appointments, let me charge my prescriptions to the law firm, etc...And then in the end just held all those cost out of the final settlement. I thought this was a very good way to do it, because I wasn't out of any money. I never spent one dime the whole two years I was working on my case. It was actually yesterday when my lawyer called me and told me we settled. My wreck was on September 30, 2005. These cases can last up to at least four years I believe. Anyways, I am sure there are lawyers that will do this where you are from as well. If you would like more info on all that leave your email address and I would be glad to help walk you thru it. As far as the anxiety about driving, I hate to be a downer about it, but I personally still have a LOT of that. To make my matters worse, after my wreck 9/05, I was in another wreck 6/06. Neither was my fault, but I didn't pursue legal help in the second one because it was minor compared to the first. The doctor can put you on some medication for the anxiety, and hopefully that can help you. But, I think that time and driving will help the fear most of all. Good Luck with everything!! I know how traumatic a car accident can be, and I see lots of people get over them like that. I dont know how they do it, because it has been nearly two years ago now, and I still have lots of fear of driving. I often wonder if it will ever go completly away....Good Luck and I hope you feel better soon!! God Bless!!
