I need to know what kind of doctor to see about this please...?!

Question:

I need to know what kind of doctor to see about this please...?

I need to know what kind of doctor I need to go and see. On Friday 8 June 2007 I woke up and there was a sharp pain in the top of my leg by my thigh. Still to this day it is sore when I move. The strangest thing of this all is that where the pain is, my leg is numb!!! It is as if the nerves are damaged. When I get cold, I get goose pimples on my legs, but not in these places where it is numb. It is so strange and scary. If it was for two or three days it would be okay, but it’s been almost two weeks. Why I’m also concerned is because this has happened to me before, but on my arm. There was no feeling in a small part of it near my underarm and when I moved my arm, it would burn and this lasted for over a year. My boyfriend suggested that it could have something to do with my back. I suffer with a problem called spondolythesis. (One of my bottom vertebrae is shifting forward) or something like that. Does anyone know what this could be or please tell me what kind of doctor to go see.

Answers:

hi, i have similar pains and numbness. I have scoliosis (curving of the spine) it is treatable!!
Im not saying you have scoliosis but it is a possibilitie. Go to your GP. Tell them about your pains, they will probably send you to get an x-ray. If whatever problem you have isn't to bad, you may be able to get pain control pills, or see a chiropractor who will teach you ways to manage you pain at home
