My Father Has A Prosthetic Leg And Doesn't Think He'll Ever Walk On His Own Agai!

Question:

My Father Has A Prosthetic Leg And Doesn't Think He'll Ever Walk On His Own Again....Is He Right?

My Dad is 68 and was hit by a car crossing the street three yeas ago. Last summer, due to diabetes, he had to have his right leg amputated above the knee. Since then, he has had a prosthesis put on and goes to physical therapy but he still needs a walker and can't walk up stairs without help.

It kills me to see this and he thinks that he'll be using a walker from here on out. Does anyone here have a personal story to share that would make me believe he has a chance to walk on his own again?

Answers:

Yes he does have a chance to walk again. I know of a teenage boy who had both of his legs, and one of his arms amputated (he was ran over by a train) and today he had prosthesis, and he is able to walk, swim, run, and he even does triathlons. Here is a link to his website http://cameronclapp.com/home.asp... I've also heard of other stories of amputees walking again it just takes lots of determination, and hard work. Good luck to you father!
