Knee pain?!

Question:

Knee pain?

ok, i pitch on my fastpitch softball team and after i am done my knee hurts, i don't really notice that much untill the next day. it hurts on the inside of my nee and above my knee cap, almost like the inside of my upper leg. sometimes my actuall knee hurts, but it is usually a shooting pain form my uper knee cap to about 5-6 inches above my knee, usually all to the inside. sometimes it hurts when i don't pitch, but i usually really bothers me the day after.

do you think i have pulled something, or is it i am landing on it wrong when i throw? should i see a doctor? or just deal with it?

what do you think is wrong?

Answers:

When you are deciding whether to call the doctor, a good rule of thumb exists for most long-term knee injuries. If your symptoms have not gone away after trying 3-7 days of PRICE therapy and over-the-counter anti-inflammatory pain medications, you should set up an appointment with your doctor or a sports medicine or orthopedic (bone and muscle) specialist to further evaluate the pain. This rule can also be applied to new knee injuries that are not disabling. Remember, however, that this rule should only serve as a guide. If you are concerned about the pain, you should call the doctor.
