After you have stretch at least 5 minutes, do warm up. Warm up is to allow your body get ready for the exercise. It slowly increase your heartrate while accommodating your muscle to the intensity of running.

After you run, cool down is essential. Too often, people forget to cool down by walking, so they can cramp up or be further injured easily. A cool down of at least 5 minutes is a must before going to other exercise.

Aside from before and after, other way to avoid running injury including a regular exercise to let your body used to the activity, but make sure you take days off to relax; listen to your body and stop if you have any pain and discomfort; adequate shoes and running ware is important as well. Finally, check up with your doctors is necessary.
