Why do we feel queasy when we're nervous?!

Question:

Why do we feel queasy when we're nervous?

I was nervous and had a queasy stomach all day because of my exams, and I still am nervous. People talk to me and I don't seem to hear them, and then when I hear a sudden noise I twitch. I didn't eat much the whole day, and this is a first because I usually have a very big appetite.

What happens inside of our bodies that make us not feel hungry even if no food was consumed for one whole day? How can I become less nervous?

Answers:

On a very simple level it is the "fight or flight" response. When you are stressed, your body wants to get rid of everything extra that would slow you down (extra food-hence the queasiness) and dumps hormones-adrenalin) in your bloodstream to help you maintain your energy to protect yourself. When you aren't stressed you have time to "rest and digest", your heart rate is slower and you feel sleepy after eating. Try deep breathing and even yoga might help you relax.
