I had many earaches when I was a kid - my mom would warm some oil in a metal spoon (any kind of kitchen oil works, olive, castor) and when it was just warm, NOT HOT!, she would pour it in my ear and put a cotton ball in it. Then I would get a heating pad and set it on medium, cover it with a towel and put it on that ear. Usually it would be gone in a few minutes but I would sit like that for about 1/2 an hour. That worked every time. But as a footnote: my eardrum did burst after going through this for about a year so you need to get to the Dr and find out what is causing the ache. It could be wax build up or it could be a tooth hurting in the back and feeling like it is your ear. Be careful, but this will get you through in a pinch!
