My 8 year old daughter is severly autistic and has started to self harm again. how can i stop her doing it?

we have a daughter who is severly autistic. her speech and communication is very limited so she gets frustraited when she cannot express herself. she has recently started to bite her arms,causing severe bruising. she has done this at home and at school. has anyone else experianced this kind of behaviour with their autistic child? and if so how did you help to prevent them doing it? she has been reffered to the behaviour team within her school to see if they can help her in any way.its so disstressing for her and me. she cannot tell me what is wrong and its worrying me. we put long sleeved clothes on her to try and prevent her doing it,and we are extra vigilant in watching where she is and what she is doing. but she still manages to hurt herself. has anybody had this trouble? would appreciate some advice on how to deal with this. kind genuine answers pleas xx
