Answers:

Pain in the left arm can arise from a number of sources some of which are:

1. Musculoskeletal: This is the most likely cause of such an arm pain which is constant over days. It could be a problem with the shoulder joint or the scapula besides the other bones. For this you are best seen by a orthopaedic surgeon.

2. Neural pain: This is less likely and more difficult to treat. It may be caused by some uncommon conditions including cervical spondylosis and herpes althogh they are less likely than 1. A neurologist should be able to assess you if the orthopoaedic surgeon does not find any attributable cause.

3. Cardiac pain: This is the least likely but most worrysome cause. Typically it should be brought on by exertion and may be associated with chest pain, sweating, breathing difficulty, anxiety and collapse and usually last more than an hour but definitely not days. Angina on the other hand can be episodic. Not all the symptoms may be present and few cases may only have an episode of arm pain. Any reputable physician should be able to deal with the issue to diagnose or rule it out.

So I would advise you to first visit an orthopod and if he is not able to make a diagnosis perhaps a neurologist. At the same time a physician should be able to exclude a heart condition.

Hope this helps
