Why does one's ability to taste go away or lessen when you have the flu?!

Question:

Why does one's ability to taste go away or lessen when you have the flu?

I have the flu for a couple of days now, and I just can't taste anything. It's so annoying.

Answers:

It might have something to do with your breathing. When you can't breath properly it affects your sense of taste. Ever notice that you can't taste anything if you plug your nose? So, it could have something to do with your sinuses getting messed up during the flu. Hope you feel better soon.
