Is this normal?

My Vein on my wrist is bulging and it hurts a loooot is this normal?

Answers:

Not normal. Did you have a shot or a blood test? Is there a mosquito bite near by? Anything where the skin could have let in an infection?

Is the skin around the bulge warm? Red? Is the bulging moving down the vein? Do you have a fever?

If there is redness or warmth, and if the pain is getting worse, or if the part that is red or warm is getting bigger, redder, or warmer, then you should go to the doctor right away. Those signs would mean you have some kind of infection in your blood vessel that is getting worse.

But if it isn't especially warm, isn't red, AND isn't getting worse, then you can probably wait until tomorrow, unless the pain is intolerable. (If you have any one of those symptoms, you would do well to see a doc today.)

If the bulging is getting bigger, and the pain is getting worse, call the hospital, describe the bulge and the increasing problem, and ask them if you need to come in. I guess it could be a blood clot, and maybe the clot could travel if it dislodges. That could be bad.

If you don't get it looked at today, and it still hurts as much tomorrow (in other words, isn't getting better on its own) go see a doctor.

Good luck.
