If a toenail comes off, will it grow back?

My mom is totally freaking out about her toe... the toenail was pulled away from her toe, and has been off for about 6 weeks and hasnt grown back at all.

Answers:

yea nails grow back back but it takes a goooooood long while. ive lost about 7 nails total, really sucks. 7 nails and 4 broken ... phalanges.
